Graduates & Alumni

Graduates of the Department of Political Science & International Relations have advanced to hold many leadership and key positions in a range of fields, including politics, government, academia and the press. They serve as excellent examples, reflecting the academic integrity of the department. Department graduates account for 5 of every 100 scholars hired in Korea academia, including 43 graduates hired in the past decade. Department graduates have earned tenure at a variety of academic institutions, including Korea University, Sookmyung Womens' University and Catholic University, as well as California State University and the American University. Graduates have also received positions in a number of research think tanks including the Institute for Foreign Affairs and National Security and the Sejong Institute, with ten doctoral-level scholars hired to date. Over 235 graduates, including 111 Current professors, are engaged in academic Work.

Employment rates in academia Were highest for department graduates from the 1950s to 1970s, especially for those graduating from the mid 1950s to mid 1960s. Graduates represent the honor and integrity of the department, and in the midst of their rigorous schedules made time to found an alumni-Organized scholarship fund to support current students.

Social science cannot rely indefinitely on the ivory tower, and in Political Science, a discipline linking academia with the real World, the active political participation and the exemplary example set by Department of Political Science and International Relations Department graduates is unparalleled.

In the field of media, Over 211 department alumni have been employed by major broadcasting agencies including KBS, MBC, SBS, YTN, TV, and news agencies such as Yonhap, the Chosun Daily, the Donga Ilbo, the Joongang Daily, and Hankyorei, with 78 holding key upper-level management positions.

Alumni members are also active in the government sector, with over 179 Working for various governmental organizations such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Reunification, the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the National Intelligence Service, and the National Tax Service, with over 83 ranked as Director or above.
